Original Taco Seasoning Mix
Made with an aromatic array of spices like cumin, chilis, paprika, garlic, and oregano. (It’s thickened with just a tiny bit of cornstarch) – but still considered one of the healthy taco seasonings out there.
Ingredients: organic cumin, organic onion powder, organic chili pepper, organic paprika, organic garlic powder, sea salt, organic corn starch, organic oregano, organic black pepper, citric acid
3 Quick Ways to Use
1. As a rub for steak.
For a one-step steak rub, combine olive oil and Organic Taco Seasoning for a zesty twist. Serve alongside rice, vegetables, or slice for tacos! A good rule of thumb – 1/2 packet of seasoning per pound of meat.
Here’s how to make it:
- 2lbs flank steak
- 2 Tablespoons olive oil
- 1 packet La Preferida Organic Taco Seasoning
DIRECTIONS
Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
Pat steak dry and rub with olive oil to coat evenly.
Pour half of the taco seasoning onto a plate in an even layer. Place steak on top to thoroughly coat. Repeat on the other side.
Lightly grease grill using olive oil and a paper towel.
Lay steak on grill for 4-5 minutes. Flip and cook an additional 3-4 minutes (med-rare.) 5 minutes and up for medium to well-done.
2. Mixed with hummus or yogurt for dip.
This “Taco Hummus” only requires two ingredients – a packet of Organic Taco Seasoning and your favorite hummus! Combine 2 Tablespoons of seasoning per 1 cup of hummus (or sour cream, yogurt, nacho cheese, etc). Serve with veggies, chips or crackers.
3. Sprinkle on roasted vegetables (like Grilled Mexican Street Corn).
Grilled corn never tasted so good! A heavenly combo of sweet and crunchy corn, creamy mayo and a hint of lime. Try this quick and easy recipe for effortless Elotes at home.
- 4 ears of corn
- 1 Tablespoon olive oil
- La Preferida Organic Taco Seasoning
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 2 limes, quartered
- queso fresco, crumbled
- cilantro, finely chopped
DIRECTIONS
Preheat grill to med/high heat.
Shuck corn or pull back leaves to make a handle. Lightly brush with oil (to prevent sticking.)
Grill for 12-15 minutes, turning frequently until lightly charred on all sides. Remove from grill.
Spread a thin layer of mayo on each cob. Sprinkle with taco seasoning, queso, and cilantro to taste. Add a squeeze of lime.

Organic Fish Taco Seasoning Mix
Despite it’s name, this is a vegan taco seasoning! While it is an ideal blend for fish or shrimp tacos, don’t be shy about trying it on vegetables too. The key to maximum flavor is in the preparation. Coat your fish or veggies in seasoning then sautee or grill with oil – no water required!
Ingredients: organic chili pepper, sea salt, organic cumin, organic paprika, organic garlic powder, organic onion powder, organic oregano, organic corn starch, organic black pepper, citric acid
