Pinto Beans
Behold, the frijole pinto which translates to “painted bean”. The pinto got it’s named from it’s speckled exterior. When cooked, the spots disappear and turn into a light pinkish hue with a creamy texture.
Pinto beans are commonly used as the main ingredient in refried beans. They can also be mashed and used inside burritos. With their mild flavor, they make a great addition to soups, chilis or salads for an extra protein boost.

I got the red 40 blues.
I was sad to see that you add red 40 to your enchilada sauce. I have enjoyed it but will try to find an alternative as I am having health issues and trying to cut out unhealthy ingredients from my diet. Is it necessary?

The best rice on the market
I love this rice, but sad that the store near me that carried it has now closed. However, I will search for it simply because it is reliable and the best in taste. I’ve never been a fan of jasmine or basmati rice – they both have distinct aroma and taste that can fight with food at times. This rice is perfect for pretty much any use. It’s not pounded and beaten down like many bags of white rice are. The quality is consistent and the rice is extremely clean right from the bag (although I always wash rice regardless to eliminated some of the starch). I’ve been a fan for years and will continue to be, even if it takes a bit more effort to find now.
La Preferida has always been#1

Delicious
A delicious quick meail.
The best refried beans out there!
I have tried every brand of refried beans out there and the La Preferida authentic refried beans are by far the best ones on the market! I guess everyone in my town knows this as well, because it’s always hard to find it on the shelves. I ordered two cases, which arrived well packaged and not one dented can! And just in time, as I was down to my last can in the pantry! If this company ever stops making this, I don’t know what I’ll do!!
