VEGETARIAN REFRIED BEAN INGREDIENTS
PRECOOKED PINTO BEANS, WATER, SALT, SOYBEAN OIL
Enjoy the Mexican meals you love without compromising on flavor. Our vegetarian refried beans are low in fat and contain NO lard or preservatives.
These versatile frijoles make a great bean dip or spread for vegan tacos or tostadas. Just heat and serve! The best part is that they contain just four simple ingredients: precooked pinto beans, water, salt, and soybean oil.
Plus, our cans are made with BPA-free lining. When you purchase La Preferida products, you’re getting more than a 16oz can of beans. You’re getting a product that supports your lifestyle.
Traditional bean brands rely on lard to provide a rich flavor, but soybean oil provides a plant-based alternative. Lard is pig fat that has been rendered. Rendering evaporates the moisture from the fat to make it shelf-stable.
Soybean oil contains less saturated fat and calories than lard. It also provides the same smooth texture and flavor to our beans.
PRECOOKED PINTO BEANS, WATER, SALT, SOYBEAN OIL
Traditionally, brands use animal products like lard. However, we offer a vegetarian version that is also vegan! It’s made with soybean oil instead of lard to maintain the smooth consistency and taste you love!
Our refried beans are NOT certified gluten-free. For this reason, we do not advise consuming this product if you have any gluten allergies or intolerances.
We don’t recommend freezing refried beans. The process of freezing and thawing may cause ingredients to break down and can affect the overall taste.
Vegetarian refried beans typically use oil (like soybean oil) in place of traditional animal products like lard. We are proud to offer 4 additional vegetarian/vegan varieties:
Stovetop: In a pan, cook beans over med-low heat, stirring occasionally.
Microwave: Empty contents into a microwaveable dish and cover. Heat on high for 2 minutes, stirring after 1 minute.

My favorite!
Please bring back the old ones (UPC #71524 19000)
The old ones (UPC #71524 19000) were best, granted the paper wrappers AND lack of a pull top were nuisances, BUT, some of the best tasting canned tamales anyone could buy!
